I’m sure you’re looking forward to next week’s PlatformCon as much as I am. It really is the event of the year! We’ve been blown away by the hundreds of proposals we’ve received, from which we’ve carefully selected 150+ talks from the best practitioners out there. Here’s a little more info to get you excited :)
- The 2-day fully virtual and free conference takes place on June 8th and 9th. If you haven’t already, you can sign up here.
- We’ll be celebrating the platform engineering community which now has 15K+ members.
- Expect talks by industry leaders and practitioners (eg Manjunath Bhat, Gartner | Charity Majors, Honeycomb | Gregor Hohpe, Author Cloud Strategy).
- We’ll dive deep into the latest trends, best practices, and innovative solutions in platform engineering across five tracks: Tech | Impact | Blueprints | Culture | Stories.
- The event begins with a live kick-off for EU and US time zones. Talks can be consumed at your own pace on PE YouTube and there’ll be a live Slack Q&A with all the speakers.
- The same schedule applies for both days.
If you’re in San Francisco, Austin, Barcelona, or London, you can join one of the watch parties and meet fellow PEs in person!
And if you need help choosing which talks to join, here’s my personal shortlist:
- Testing platforms by Nils Balkow-Tychsen. Nils is an icon when it comes to test automation and will be discussing how to test platforms as code.
- Platforms as code by Stephan Schneider and Mike Gatto will explore how to design Internal Developer Platforms code first.
- Build abstractions, not illusions by the brilliant Gregor Hohpe will help you understand where and how to abstract the right way.
- Streamlining developer experience, a look at reference architectures by Marco Marulli will deep-dive into reference architectures for platforms at enterprise scale.
- Build golden paths for day 50, not for day 1! by me. I will go into detail about how to think of every release as day 0 and a chance to “clean up” and reduce technical debt.
I’ll also be getting involved and sharing my insights during my talk “Building golden paths for day 50, not only day 1”. As you’ve probably gathered by now, it’s a topic I’m somewhat passionate about! You can also join me tonight when I’ll be speaking on a Youtube live-stream with other PE groupies.
