Cost control

Ensure lean resource allocation, optimally and securely reuse running instances. Tear them down or restart them on schedule.

Lean resource allocation by design

Setting horizontal pod autoscaling to max on development is creating needless costs? Spinning up a cluster when you could just create a namespace? Postgres could run in-cluster rather than a managed instance? Set rules and let the Platform Orchestrator enforce them across your organization.

Understand what’s running where, anytime

How many idle resources do you have today? How do you make sure unused resources are sunset? The Platform Orchestrator and Portal give you a single API and pane of glass to answer such questions with ease and sunset at scale and securely.

Pause environments on schedule

Are all your non-prod systems up and running unused all night? Put them to sleep with the Orchestrator’s pausing functionality. It  automatically ensures that stateful services are kept up and can be overridden if a developer wants to work at 3am.

Spin up and tier down environments rapidly

Dynamically create ephemeral environments for any event such as the creation of a pull request. Stop team members and automated tests interfering with each other. From clusters to namespaces and databases, define how resources are created. Automatically tear them down on demand.

How it works

The Platform Orchestrator creates a consistent code representation of the environment based on the rules defined by the platform team. Rules are matched to environment specific requirements and infrastructure to create context relevant config files. The Humanitec Portal allows you to visualize what’s running where.
It allowed us to streamline our operations without compromising on quality or security.

There’s so much noise in the platform engineering space. Reference architectures helped us get the design and starting point right.
