This workshop will answer this question by migrating an application together. You will see how the common traits between workloads are identified and transferred into a base Helm chart. How the configuration that the developer has to handle is being brought to a bare minimum and made environment agnostic with Score. How the application is being onboarded onto the platform using the new way and resource packs to provide the backing services - basically how it all clicks together in just a few hours.
Lastly, we’ll look at adjusting the amount of standardization versus the effort it takes and how to project that onto any application to estimate the effort of onboarding it to the platform.
In this workshop, you will learn
- how to create an abstract base Helm chart to use with Humanitec
- how to migrate applications quickly to a Score based deployment
- how to estimate the complexity of the two above tasks for any application
