I get so many questions about what we’re currently focussing on from a product perspective at Humanitec. I thought I’d highlight some of our strategic thinking around how we invest in the Platform Orchestrator from a product perspective. Let me start by giving you a feeling of scale:
- A four-digit number of people sign up to Humanitec every week.
- KPIs like net number of deployments and usage are on track to grow 600-800% YoY in 2022.
- All teams start inbound, bottoms up and mostly with our free trial.
- Our CS functions now cover the entire world 24/7 with high quality support.
Crazy numbers, numbers we couldn’t have dreamed of just two years ago. While the volume increases, our core product philosophies remain the same:
- Product excellence: our engineering team has an acceptance rate of 500 applications to one offer.
- Product openness: we never dictate how your engineering org should do things. We give you the tool, you take the decisions. We are open source wherever possible (lots more to come here soon).
- Integrate and embrace: we rarely compete, we try to stay out of adjacent categories. From Backstage to Argo, those are our friends and allies and we always try to play well in tandem.
The Orchestrator remains focussed on its key capabilities:
- Dynamic Configuration Management (which really is the key part that makes this architecture so beautiful)
- Infrastructure Orchestration
- Deployment Management
- Environment Management
- Governance and RBAC
Here are some areas of focus for us:
- Cloud cost reduction, the Orchestrator will be able to monitor usage and sunset resources (non-prod) automatically
- Advanced secrets handling
- Fully fledged UI overhaul
It’s great to see that so many folks that have built platforms before (without us), now use the orchestrator to drive standardization by design, enable developer self-service and ship reliably and fast.
We also have a number of upcoming webinars, check them out!
