Hey there,
I’m not sure how you feel, but for me, I definitely went too “remote” after Covid. Maybe it made sense for a while. I leaned hard into my introverted side, hunkered down in my little village, and let the world come to me through a screen. Our company went fully remote and stayed that way. Even the Platform Engineering community, as vibrant and connected as it is, sprouted in the virtual soil of Slack, Zoom, and online meetups. And PlatformCon? It was no different. Built for the times.
But let’s be honest…enough is enough. If we let our extroverted muscles atrophy too long, getting back out there starts to feel like climbing a mountain. And we see it in the community as well. The number 1 question I get about PlatformCon is - “why can’t we meet in-person?”
And that’s why we’re shaking things up for PlatformCon 2025. It’s time to get back to human-to-human interactions. Big, in-person gatherings. London and New York City.
We will still have the main virtual PlatformCon events that you know and love. A full week of talks from all the names you recongise in this wonderful platform engineering space. This time will also include far more of the platform engineering workshops that did so well last year.
But happening at the same time through the week, there will be two days in-person. PlatformCon Live Day LDN on 25th of June, and 26th of June for PlatformCon Live Day NYC.
Picture this: some of the brightest minds in Platform Engineering, sharing their wisdom, challenges, and laughter. In NYC - Kelsey, who brings warmth and authenticity and takes so much time to really connect with people before and after sessions and in the hallways. In LDN - Gregor Hohpe, whose insights always make the room buzz with energy. And yes, the notorious Luca Galante will be everywhere at once - London, New York, and anywhere there’s a good conversation about platforms.
And I’ll be there too, hopping between both cities (planes permitting), soaking up every moment. Because there’s magic in real conversations. That’s where people tell you to your face, I disagree! Or say, “have you ever thought about this?”
Don’t get me wrong. I love virtual. I thrive in it. And I will still be watching and speaking with 40,000 of you in the main virtual event. But there is nothing quite like all of us together in person.
So, what do you say? Come join us. Feel the energy of a room full of other platform nerds. Let’s reconnect, learn, and make the future of platform engineering
See you there?
From snowy Garz with love
