The risk of misalignment between business objectives and the various players in your IT team becomes particularly apparent when it comes to technologies like Kubernetes. The business wants speed. Engineers want beautifully crafted, self-scripted toolchains and shiny K8s CRD operators. If you introduce or scale Kubernetes the wrong way (without thinking about the cultural implications or the preferences of the various parties involved) it can lead to pretty painful dramas.
Our friends Lian Li and Eva Lettner from Container Solutions will discuss these challenges with us in an upcoming conversation I am personally very much looking forward to.
Needless to say, Internal Developer Platforms provide a handy way to align the interests of the different stakeholders. We’ve put together a comprehensive test that will give you a good indication of whether your team is ready for such a platform - give it a try!
Apart from that a few reminders of interesting learning opportunities I love:
- I will discuss with Manuel Pais traditional vs modern platform patterns this Thursday night
- Aaron built the platform at Salesforce and is sharing his learnings
- Postman's Arlémi will explore how to use the Postman and the Humanitec API to deploy to K8s
- I will talk about why I’m so passionate about developer self-service and how to get there
And if you want to learn more about Humanitec in particular we have another product demo webinar coming up soon.
From all of us here at Humanitec: enjoy the raising temperatures (depending on your current location).
Cheers,
Kaspar
